Obviously a massive shame about Cheltenham being abandoned on Saturday as there were some major trends races to be studied, but hopefully some of them will be rerouted elsewhere and I'll post any updates here. Then again we are talking about the BHA trying to organize something - I can think of an alternative meaning to the abbreviation!
From a selfish punting perspective it was probably a good thing Cheltenham was abandoned as I took a hammering last week – one of my worst for a few months. I even scooped the Placepots at Cheltenham on Friday and Donny on Saturday but still lost money as the small payout didn’t cover the big stake!
Cheltenham was particularly frustrating as I got four favs out the frame and was quietly getting excited checking results whilst out Xmas shopping with the family on Friday only to be deflated when checking the dividend at home.
I also experienced my first losing Saturday for six weeks on the Daily Dust website, and only the cricket brought in any winnings during the last seven days! What could go wrong did on the racing front, with the likes of the Peterborough Chase, Gloucester and Pennek all going pear-shaped.
I’ll only be listing bets on the Daily Dust website until the end of the month as I’m writing the second edition of the Racing Trends Revealed Flat book at present, which means time is again limited. Therefore, I also doubt whether I’ll get enough time to check the Top of the Form eyecatchers’ entries for the week ahead – not that many of them have been delivering of late – but will continue to produce an updated list of them should anyone want to check themselves, as below.
First, here are the Performance Ratings from the book covering the last seven days.
