PERFORMANCE RATINGS

CHALLOW NOVICES’ HURDLE – Diamond Harry 78

DECEMBER FESTIVAL HURDLE – Sublimity 80

PIERSE HURDLE – Penny’s Bill 60

LEOPARDSTOWN (PIERSE) H'CAP CHASE – Schindlers Hunt 78

The latter event is a puzzler as they changed the distance of the race and gave it a new title. It was also a lot classier than normal with the top weight running off 158 so the shape of the race may be changing long-term.

It’s short and sweet from me today as I’m on deadline to complete the second edition of the Flat book, but I may be back later in the week. Here’s hoping the weather behaves as there are five races from the book to be solved – take note that the Grade 2 Rossington Main Novices’ Hurdle at Haydock on Saturday can be found on page 83 of the book.

TOP OF THE FORM

The following hot form race hasn’t made the Top 20 as the protagonists from the top half of the field have all reappeared, but it’s worth looking into.

Dec 27 Southwell 1m handicap won by United Nations – 6 wins from 16 runs.
