The second of this week’s blogs is late for a good reason as I wanted to report about the recent deal which has been struck for the National Hunt version of Racing Trends Revealed 2008/09 – ‘The road to Cheltenham’.
At this point I can confirm there will be approximately 140 races in the book, running from October 2008 to April 2009, including over 30 races from Ireland.
Written in the same format as the Flat version, the book will highlight the winner’s profile along with future pointers, giving emphasis to the Cheltenham Festival – very much suiting those who like to bet ante-post at the March jamboree.
It will also feature all the main races from the Cheltenham and Aintree Festivals, along with Fairyhouse and Punchestown.
Two new introductions in the trends charts will be the winner’s official rating, plus the winner’s style of racing – front runner, prominent or held up.
There will be more news about the book throughout the summer – available in the autumn – but any feedback or suggestions regarding the Flat version are welcome with a view of possibly incorporating them into the jumps version.

Great news on the NH book. I am really enjoying the flat version (just about to get stuck into tomorrows races) and nearly got a 6/1 winner today with HATTON just touched off.
Tony
Had a great day down at Sandown yesterday and the book helped me find Major Cadeaux in the Sandown mile and my first MAJOR bet went in!
noted the Hannon factor you mentioned but also last 2 years he hadn't had a runner, and before that it was 1,1,3,2,7 in the race.
Also 4yr olds had slight advantage in last 18 years with 9/18 with 5r olds 7/18.
I didn't fancy Medicine Man because it had set its best ever time figure last time and thought the 'bouce' factor would apply which it did, and was nice to see all the big tipsters were tipping it and as Alan Potts would say I was 'Against the crowd!' ;-)
Followed up with Centennial which if you forgot the fav trend was also a trend horse. I looked into this one and noted 11/18 had won on a stiff track before winning and out of the shortlist he was the only one with this form (winnning at Newmarket)
Ive got the 20 races from your feature 'top of the form' on my system and noticed it threw up some nice winners in the week.
I'll be keeping a close eye on MISS CURLY at Navan today, number 7 in the chart toppers and with 4 future wins from first 5 in that race will be interesting
Agree with Tony, great news about NH version. First time user of the flat version and impressed so far, the addition of ORs of winners would be a very usefuly addition to the NH book. Only problem I have at the moment with flat version is I keep picking the wrong one from the short list!! Putting this down to the usual uncertainty about early season form and trust things will get better, starting with the Guineas next week. Richard
Hey guys,
Really glad to hear some of you are finding a few winners with the book, hope you've already recouped the purchase price.
In reply to Richard about choosing the wrong one from the shortlist, it can help to cover two or three horses with a staking plan and have a goal of profiting from the race - not just one horse.
Say for example, you have the main bet on your fancy and then two savers for a small profit. If you allocate £10 on a race, try dividing it into £5, £3 and £2 on three horses etc.
Not that I get it right every time - if only.
There will be further news about the NH book throughout the Flat season.
Good luck.
