Classic winners?

I mentioned here on Tuesday that last week’s Craven meeting looked above par this year and the performance ratings confirm that theory.

FEILDEN STAKES
Campanologist 66

NELL GWYN STAKES
Infallible 72

EUROPEAN FREE HANDICAP
Stimulation 69

ABERNANT STAKES
Zidane 80

CRAVEN STAKES
Twice Over 80

EARL OF SEFTON STAKES
Phoenix Tower 79

JOHN PORTER STAKES
Royal And Regal 77

FRED DARLING STAKES
Muthabara 68

GREENHAM STAKES
Paco Boy 72

SPRING CUP
Lang Shining 67

Seven of those ten races were above par which was pleasing to see as both these meetings have slipped in quality over the last 10 years, and hopefully this may encourage more trainers to send their Classic hopefuls here in years to come.
There is plenty in those ratings to provide clues and some handy ‘future pointers’ can be found in the book, such as Henry Cecil’s four-year-old winners in the Earl of Sefton Stakes.

Next stop Sandown and Leicester at the weekend, but in the meantime, keep an eye out for jockey Fergal Lynch’s rides. Followers of my Top Of The Form column will know he rode Dorn Dancer to win last week, and his recent record since returning to the saddle reads impressive - four April winners from just a handful of rides.
He is only getting the odd mount at present but is busting a gut in every race to try and establish himself quickly this season. He looks hungry for winners.

Was looking at the 3.45pm at Catterick today
and noticed 4/6 of the last winners of the race had 3 or more runs before winning the race and it was in the official rating trend median aswell. After a bit of more form reading I noticed low draws are normally advantageous on soft and then I see the jockey booking of Fergal Lynch and remembered you had said watch out for Fergal.

read a few reports on his excellent rides and this was the icing on the cake for the bet

and at 14-1 MONTIBOLI was a nice winner

cheers!!
