Trendy times

I hope some of you found the National winner on Saturday – my wife did after flicking through the trends! I was on Snowy Morning in third, but as they hit the elbow, I quite naturally cheered home my wife's horse instead...Comply Or Die!

I keep records of not only Flat races from the book but also the major jumps races as well, and there will be some exciting news regarding the NH trends scene appearing here in the coming weeks…watch this space!

Back to the Flat, and I noticed a couple of winners have already emerged from the Rosebery Handicap at Kempton, which supports my earlier performance rating as this year’s renewal looks above par. Followers of my Top of the Form column in the Racing and Football Outlook will be aware of the hot form races I monitor - hope some of you backed the first two tips mentioned last week in Or De Grugy (11-4) and Pettifour (16-1) – and the Rosebery Handicap could soon be making the chart if it continues in this vein of form.
What with my wife backing the National winner, a good week was had in the Myers household. I appreciate them when they arrive.

Looking at this weekend’s Flat races from the book, make a note that the Easter Stakes and Doncaster Mile will be run on the Saturday, both of which can be found earlier in Racing Trends Revealed – the dates were switched!
Both events are also favoured over the Masaka Stakes from a trends perspective, as they have stronger winner-finding clues.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of following trends over the years has been eyeing up the races from the five-day stage in the hope of spotting a potential bet that fits the trends. Whether it is a particular trainer that has sparkled in a certain race or a lone three-year-old in an event that favours the Classic generation, preparation and sticking to the method come the day is key - better still if the draw and ground come right.

On the subject of weekend trends, for those of you who like to follow them in Ireland, I will be debuting in the Irish Field this weekend covering the week’s major race – the Gladness Stakes at The Curragh on Sunday.

I’ll be back later this week with a second update.

Well done.

Am finding the book a brilliant read, it also encouraging me to build a database to keep track of the previous runs and the future as can keep the trends up to date in the future.

Do you do the same David ?

Lemondash,
I hope Mr. Myers won't mind me suggesting www.horseracebase.com as a brilliant site for use in conjunction with the book. It has a "hot races" facility as well as the normal "horses to follow" function. The hot races allows you to nominate a race or races to follow and you will be told when any horse is running from that race. You can also "follow" the form of a race as it evolves by the simple press of a button which details all subsequent runs of the horses in the race. The site could have been tailor designed for this book!

To lemondash,

I'm not sure exactly what you mean about keeping track of the previous runs etc, but I do keep my trends up to date at the end of each season when I get the time.
During the season I make notes of how the big races are working out.
Hope that helps.
