Royal Ascot – Day three

Easy this Royal Ascot lark, especially as a low draw bias could be emerging!

There were a few trendsbusters on Wednesday, and Aqlaam never made my short-list for the Jersey Stakes as I harshly dismissed it for winning a maiden last time – congrats to anyone who got it – so let’s hope the Norfolk Stakes winner is more gettable on Thursday (see below).

Some of you may remember me mentioning Jedediah about three weeks ago as one to follow, especially if entered in the Britannia. Well, he is entered and though the trends are against him on recent form-figures I will be punting him each-way.

Colony also stands out in the King George V Stakes from the Top Of The Form entries, plus he fits the trends nicely.

Norfolk Stakes.

Baycat – Form of his C&D win been franked and though unproven on fast ground, his sire went on it. Small yards haven’t shined in this and Portman 0-11 here.

Cerito – Impressive debut win at Bath, though debatable what that form is worth and Mick Channon has a poor record in this event.

Elegant Cad – Still a maiden – bypassed.

Finjaan – Lacks a win last time out but Tregoning’s 2yo record much respected at just 2-3. Form of second in National Stakes let down by Icesolator on Tuesday.

Flashmans Papers – Reappears after landing the Windsor Castle on opening day, and fly in the ointment as no past winner had a similar prep, though the Aussie sprinters have proved in recent years that a quick double can be achieved.

Klynch – Not many land this after an all-weather win and likely SP too big.

Mullionmileanhour – Third to Flashmans Papers means he loses his last time out victory stat, respected but not ideal draw in 14 if they come stands’ side.

Prolific – No win last time out and second to Danehill Destiny was let down on Wednesday. Hannon has won this but poor strike-rate.

Servoca – Still a maiden – bypassed.

Skid Solo – Still a maiden – bypassed.

South Central – Made many a notebook when clocking very fast time at Carlisle and yard won this three years ago. Fits all the trends.

Spin Cycle – Bryan Smart’s juveniles much respected at this meeting, though form of last win not franked and needs a lot more. Likely SP will be too big.

Sun Ship – Held by Baycat here, before last win at Salisbury which was boosted on a few occasions. Hannon has won this but poor strike-rate.

Waffle – Jeremy Noseda has a good record in this and Waffle clocked a decent time at Leicester and fits the trends, as he is likely to be in the first five of the betting.

Moss Likely – No win last time out having lost here on Tuesday and Channon’s runners have not done great in this.

SHORT-LIST: South Central – Waffle – Flashmans Papers
