Wednesday update...minus the photo!

I see the Ayr Gold Cup form is working out well! – one runner, one winner, courtesy of Knot In Wood.
A lesson there for us all next time we consider backing a horse making a quick reappearance. Each horse obviously has a different constitution – light-framed fillies etc - but it amazed me how a horse can run so well in a big handicap and then bolt up just 24 hours later.

Glad to see some of you backed Against The Grain in the Silver Cup, and it was nice to see the main letter in the RFO this week regarding TOTF. Fingers crossed for more winners this week.

Here are the updated ratings and Top Of the Form entries from Wednesday Sep 24 onwards - I’ll be making my own ‘quick reappearance’ with another blog in the next 48 hours before the weekend.

Top Of The Form

Almost Married – Featured in the hot Ayr sprint and nearly won over 5f, before another placed effort over the same trip on Monday. Will enjoy going back to 6f.

Any Given Day (Cesarewitch) – Fifth in a Newmarket handicap that is reasonable form and should be able to improve on this running on effort from behind, which was a disadvantage on the day.

Avontuur (Wednesday) – Cracking second in Ayr sprint, only put up 1lb for that and on decent handicap mark.

Doughnut (Saturday) – Weatherbys Super Sprit working out well, especially those from the lower-half of the field that are given reasonable targets next time.

Elijah Pepper – Form of Pontefract victory has worked out and trainer David Barron knows how to place progressive sprinters.

Hazzard County - Stayed on into third at Great Leighs and deserves to land one after some consistent efforts.

Head Down - Excellent second to Rose Diamond and could win a nursery.

Imperial Sword (Wednesday) – Good fourth in Ayr sprint, needs things to fall right as seems to find in trouble in running too often. Smallish field over 6f on good or softer ideal.

Lonely Star (Sunday) – Fifth at Sandown worked out well, and should pick up a maiden, ideally back against her own sex – had a poor draw at Kempton on Monday.

Lucky Numbers (Saturday) – Thirsk maiden victory has been franked by horses in a better grade and could represent value from a small yard.

Make Amends (Monday) - Was seen making late ground into eighth on just his third outing at Bath.

Mullglen - Weatherbys Super Sprit working out well, especially those from the lower-half of the field that are given reasonable targets next time.

Pacific Ocean - Decent fourth at Yarmouth and a repeat on soft ground could suffice.

Pan The Man (Thursday) - Career best when second to subsequent-winning William The Butler, and should pick up a race possibly dropped to a Class 4 – outclassed in Listed last time.

Pearl Of Manacor – Excellent third in Newbury maiden, which has churned out five subsequent winners.

Prospect Court - Sixth to Angus Newz was good form and is one to store away possibly for the autumn as he loves the mud and has slipped to a winning mark.

Quanah Parker (Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy) – Clocked a decent time at Ripon beating three subsequent winners and should be able to hold his own in better company.

Red Lily (Tuesday & Friday) – Decent third at Yarmouth and a repeat on soft ground could suffice.

Roman Glory (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday) – Seen making late ground in decent Sandown maiden and should improve further.

Shamwari Lodge (Friday, Saturday, Monday) - Picked up nicely on her debut at Newbury.

Spinners End (Wednesday) – Good fourth at Ripon and capable of taking a maiden. Was drawn on wrong side on debut and Burke yard in-form during September.

The Good Guy - Placed effort at Uttoxeter decent form.

Total Gallery (Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy) - Beverley form worked out and possibly drawn too near the stands' rail at Goodwood as the race developed down the centre.

Wee Ziggy – Third in a Southwell handicap hurdle is decent form.
